Kansas City, Missouri – Forensic specialists have made a breakthrough in a case from 2022 where skeletal remains were discovered on the east side of Kansas City.
The skeletal remains identified recently are those of Kevin Dewayne Cochran, a 35-year-old Oklahoma resident. His body was located in October near E. 30th Terrace and Van Brunt Boulevard.

The Kansas City Police Department (KCPD) indicated at the time that Cochran’s remains might have been lying undiscovered for several months. A key to solving this mystery came from a private company specializing in forensic genetics genealogy, which managed to identify Cochran’s remains, providing much-needed answers to his family and investigators.
While the identification of Cochran’s remains sheds light on part of the mystery, the KCPD is proceeding with caution, treating this as a death investigation. They have observed no clear signs of foul play at the scene.
However, the investigation into how Cochran died continues, as the medical examiner’s office has yet to determine a cause of death.
