Kansas City adds new discount perk to Fountain Card to help residents save money

Date:

Kanas City, Missouri – Kansas City is expanding the use of its Fountain Card by introducing a new perk that will help citizens save money on everyday expenses. City health officials claim that the new relationship gives cardholders free access to Working Advantage, a national savings platform.

The Kansas City Health Department made the announcement as part of an effort to make the Fountain Card, which is free for all city residents, more useful. Cardholders can now get savings on popular expenses like entertainment, travel, electronics, shopping, fitness memberships, and more through Working Advantage.

The program usually only helps employees of big companies, so this additional access is significant for people who live nearby.

City officials say the move comes at a time when families are having trouble making ends meet. Dr. Marvia Jones, the head of the Health Department, stated that the cooperation was meant to assist people make their money go farther and encourage them to do fun things every day, like going to the movies or arranging a short trip.

“Given the rising cost of living, this partnership adds meaningful value to the Fountain Card,” said Dr. Marvia Jones, Director of the Kansas City Health Department. “The goal is to make this card not only a gateway to city services, but a practical tool that helps residents stretch their dollars and enjoy everyday experiences.”

The Fountain Card was first made to make it easier for people to identify themselves. Now, it connects residents to programs in Parks and Recreation, Water Services, and Public Works. It is also a legitimate form of ID for many municipal purposes, especially for individuals who don’t have a state-issued ID card. This includes those who are homeless, people who are coming back to the country, immigrants, seniors, and others who have trouble with the government.

Deputy Director Jacqueline A. Dillard noted that Working Advantage makes the card’s main goal stronger. She said that the extension was a move toward more inclusivity, which supports the premise that everyone who lives there belongs and should have the same access to resources and opportunities.

“Adding Working Advantage strengthens what the Fountain Card represents,” said Jacqueline A. Dillard, Deputy Director of the Kansas City Health Department. “This is about belonging, opportunity, and access—for everyone in Kansas City.”
