House fire in Kansas City leads to hospitalization of elderly man and firefighter

Kansas City, Missouri – A 60-year-old man and a firefighter from Kansas City were hospitalized after a house fire on Thursday morning.

Crews from the Kansas City Missouri Fire Department, responded to the blaze around 10:15 a.m. at a location on the 3000 block of College Avenue.

Upon their arrival, firefighters encountered significant smoke and flames coming from a two-story house.

Firefighters conducting a search inside the house found a man affected by the intense smoke. After receiving initial treatment at the scene, he was transported to a hospital for additional treatment. His condition is reported as serious but stable.

The fire was declared under control by 10:40 a.m., according to fire department officials.

Additionally, one firefighter was sent to the hospital to get checked for minor injuries.

The fire department has called for the involvement of the dangerous buildings team and bomb and arson unit in the investigation. The cause of the fire is currently being looked into.
