Kansas City-based Evergy invites nonprofits to compete for community impact funding of up to $10,000

Kansas City, Missouri – Nonprofits in Kansas and Missouri now have a new chance to get money to help make their communities. The Connecting for Good Hometown Grants Program from Evergy is now accepting applications. It will give grants of up to $10,000 to help initiatives that meet basic requirements.

The program is for nonprofit organizations that work on issues such as supplying people food, keeping their homes stable, providing hygiene supplies, and helping with energy bills and other basic needs. The grants are meant to assist groups grow their capacity or do exceptional projects that aren’t part of their normal work. They give them a short-term boost that can make a big difference.

From now until March 4, eligible groups can apply. The Community Relations team at Evergy will look over the plans and choose 10 finalists when the submission period ends. After that, the projects will go to a public vote phase, when people in the community will have a direct say in which ones get money.

From March 16 to March 25, people will be able to vote on Evergy’s Facebook page. The three initiatives that get the most votes at the end of the voting session will each get a grant of up to $10,000. On March 31, Evergy will reveal the winners. To be eligible, candidates must live in Evergy’s service region and meet the program’s qualifying standards.

“The Connecting for Good Hometown Grants program is another way we can help communities build stability, strengthen families, and create a foundation for long‑term well‑being,” said Elizabeth Danforth, Evergy’s director of corporate social impact. “We want to help organizations that are out there every day helping our customers with basic needs.”

Evergy helps the community in many ways, and Hometown Grants are only one of them. Every year, the company gives millions of dollars to local NGOs and runs many initiatives to help consumers who are having trouble with money or going through big changes in their lives. Customers got help paying their bills through Evergy-supported programs worth over $25 million in 2025. They may also get help at walk-in facilities and community outreach events.

Evergy’s Connecting for Good Hometown Grants tools have all the information and rules for nonprofits that want to apply. Evergy is based in Kansas City and serves about 1.7 million consumers in Kansas and Missouri. Its staff are active in the communities they serve.
