Kansas City Fire Department opens fast-track hiring for already certified responders

Date:

Kansas City, Missouri – The Kansas City Fire Department is opening the door for already trained emergency responders who are ready to move quickly into service through its Academy Fast Class hiring opportunity.

The department is seeking fully credentialed candidates who already meet key certification requirements. Applicants must currently hold an EMT or Paramedic certification, along with Firefighter I and II credentials and Hazmat Awareness and Operations Certification. The program is designed for people who have already done the hard work of preparing for the fire service and are now ready to take the next step with one of the country’s most active departments.

Applications are being accepted now through June 15. For qualified candidates, the opportunity offers a direct path toward joining a department known for demanding work, public trust and service across Kansas City.

KCFD is highlighting not only the chance to serve, but also the compensation and long-term stability that come with the role. The department offers excellent pay, a strong benefits package and a defined benefit pension. Starting salary is listed at $53,564.94 for a Firefighter EMT, while a Firefighter Paramedic begins at $84,864.78.

Those details place the opening squarely in front of candidates who may already be working in emergency services, fire training or medical response and are looking for a department where their credentials can be put to use right away. The Academy Fast Class is aimed at applicants who do not need to start from scratch, but who are prepared to bring their training, discipline and commitment into Kansas City’s fire service.

The message from the department is clear: “If you are ready to serve one of the nation’s proudest and busiest fire departments, and have these credentials, apply today.”

The application period gives interested candidates a limited window to gather materials, review full requirements and submit their information. With the June 15 deadline approaching, KCFD is encouraging qualified EMTs, paramedics and certified firefighters to take action soon.

More information, including full requirements and benefits details, is available through the city’s careers page at kcmo.gov/careers.
