Kansas City, Missouri – With two primary schools opening in the Crestview and Nashua areas, North Kansas City is getting ready for a beginning of the new school year. Designed to fit the specific needs and goals of their young students, the new facilities offer to provide educational experiences mixed with creativity and inclusiveness.
Crestview Elementary: Celebrating diversity and creativity
Claiming the distinction of “the most diverse elementary school in the state,” Crestview Elementary, located in the Canyon area, is not only a new construction but also a vibrant celebration of diversity. From the time students and guests arrive, they are greeted with “Hello” in several languages, therefore establishing the inclusive learning atmosphere.
The architecture of the school features a cafeteria covered in a globe atlas mural, which not only accentuates the area but also reminds one of the global community and the need of variety and harmony. With its Makers Space, where students may participate in hands-on projects and unique biomes for every grade level, reflecting the various ecological zones of their surroundings, Crestview goes even farther in fostering creativity.
Nashua Elementary: A gateway to the stars
With a school-wide theme on astronomy, Nashua Elementary approaches learning from a cosmic perspective. The media center, where a big constellation installation glows above a great stairway, brilliantly captures the subject evoking the imagery of mountains and rivers.
This theme extends throughout the school, with each grade assigned a neighborhood constellation to foster a sense of identity and adventure among the students.
“At Nashua, we’re not just teaching about the stars; we’re inspiring our students to set out on an adventure and reach for their dreams,” said Principal Courtney Minnich to FOX4 News Kansas City. “Each constellation represents the potential and aspirations of our young learners.”
Reflecting the possibilities and aspirations of every child, each constellation topic is meant to inspire pupils to explore and dream big while also teaching about astronomy.
