Liebherr opens Kansas City warehouse to speed up crane part delivery in Midwest

Date:

Kansas City, Missouri – Liebherr USA opened a new spare parts warehouse in Kansas City in a strategic action to improve service delivery and part accessibility. Designed to supply parts for mobile and crawler cranes, the facility represents a major turning point for the business in terms of strengthening its Midwest logistics system.

Covering 12,000 square feet, the Kansas City warehouse boasts around 2,300 spare component line products right now. As the plant approaches its operational capability, plans call for increasing this inventory to around 5,000-line items. This development is expected to significantly increase the availability and delivery speed of necessary components to regional clients, therefore improving their availability and speed of operation and hence lowering downtime and increasing production for crane operators.

Arnold Burger, the General Manager of Customer Service for Mobile and Crawler Cranes at Liebherr USA, emphasized the company’s commitment to the region.

“This significant investment in the expansion of the spare parts distribution network shows Liebherr’s further commitment to providing the best service to our customers in the Midwest,” said Burger.

Kansas City’s strategic location guarantees quick distribution of parts, therefore meeting consumer needs and assuring efficient use of resources.

Early this year, the project started with the installation of storage racks. The warehouse sent its first order barely one month of operation. Now ranking among four important sites in the Liebherr USA network, Kansas City helps to distribute parts acquired from their main warehouse in Newport News, Virginia.

Establishing the Kansas City warehouse fits Liebherr’s larger plan to improve its service capacity all throughout the country. Liebherr wants to increase its market presence in the competitive heavy machinery sector as well as improve the supply chain and logistics for important spare parts so enhancing its service efficiency.
