New Target store set to open in Springfield as part of nationwide spring expansion in mid-March

Date:

Springfield, Missouri – This spring, Target will open a new wave of locations in numerous states. This is part of a long-term plan to combine physical stores with the convenience of online shopping. According to the California-based small local newspaper News Sickle Arrow, seven more stores are set to open in California, Missouri, New Jersey, North Carolina, and Texas.

Most of the buildings are designed on a larger scale so that people could shop in-store and place orders online. The deployment is part of a bigger plan that includes opening more than 30 outlets this year and more than 300 more stores across the country by 2035.

On March 15, six of the new locations will open, and a seventh will open later in the month. Springfield, Missouri, is one of the first places to get a new store. The store is built to reflect the company’s recent move toward larger layouts and more services that work together.

Five of the seven spring openings are bigger than 125,000 square feet. This shows that the company is focusing on space, flexibility, and making it easier to combine traditional shopping with same-day pickup choices.

The new shop in Springfield is the second Target in the city and the fifth in southwest Missouri. The location is located in the growing Springfield Sunshine Centre at the corner of West Sunshine Street and West Bypass. It is the center of a mixed-use project that covers around 23 acres.

After the idea was made public in 2023, construction took roughly two years. The store will open at 8 a.m. on March 15. Regular hours will be every day from 8 a.m. to 11 p.m., so local shoppers will always be able to get in.

The Springfield location is far bigger than the company’s usual store size, at about 148,000 square feet. The bigger store has a wider range of groceries, including fresh fruits and vegetables, meat, and dairy, as well as clothes, electronics, home products, and toys.

Customers will also find well-known partner features like an Apple store within a store, a CVS Pharmacy, and a Starbucks café. The design also focuses on energy efficiency, accessibility, and plenty of parking, and it includes convenience services like curbside Drive Up, in-store order pickup, and same-day delivery through Target’s membership program.

The store is projected to hire roughly 180 people to work in retail, stocking, guest services, and management. This will create new jobs and provide people in the neighborhood more places to buy.

Company leadership claim that building new stores is all about making relationships with communities and giving personnel updated tools and spaces to better serve clients.
