Kansas City, Missouri – Science City at Union Station will turn into a block-filled world of imagination on Wednesday, June 10, as families are invited to step into the Overworld for Minecraft Day, a full-day event built around crafting, exploring, science and play.
The special event runs during regular Science City hours, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., and all Minecraft Day activities are included with Science City admission. Tickets for Wednesday, June 10, can be purchased at https://bitly.com/ScienceCityTickets. Admission is free for Union Station Members.
The day is designed for young builders, curious explorers and Minecraft fans of all ages. Guests can move through Science City’s three floors of themed spaces, where more than 300 interactive exhibits and high-energy play zones will remain open alongside the Minecraft-themed activities.
One of the day’s standout activities is Exploding Creepers, where visitors can draw a Creeper face and then use science to send it blasting sky-high. Guests can also try BLOCK Printing with flat LEGO pieces, creating pixelated artwork that looks like it came straight from the game and can be taken home.
Crafting will continue with Minecraft Hand Puppets, made from laser-cut paper pieces, while Minecraft Mosaics will invite guests to use LEGO bricks to build their own small creation and add it to a larger community mosaic that grows throughout the day.
The event will also bring the game’s animal world into real life. Visitors can learn more about Minecraft animals and see some creatures up close during special Nature Chats at 11:30 a.m. and 2 p.m., including a chance to meet a real-life axolotl.
For guests ready to test their knowledge, Minecraft Trivia will offer a chance to show off what they know and be entered to win a 3D-printed Glow Box. Photo areas with Minecraft-themed backdrops, masks and props will give families a place to strike their best block pose.

Science City is also adding a playful newsroom twist. A “massive Creeper outbreak” has threatened the Overworld, and guests can head to the Newsroom at Overworld Headquarters to deliver dramatic updates from their favorite biome.
A special scavenger hunt will round out the adventure. Guests who complete it through the free Science City Explorer App can earn a 3D-printed Minecraft-themed keychain created by the Maker Studio. The app is available at https://bit.ly/ScienceCityExplorerApp.
For early learners, Magnet Fishing in the PNC Learning Lab will offer a quieter hands-on activity, mixing simple science with playful discovery.
