Kansas City residents gain easy access to Alabama’s Gulf Coast with new flight route set to start in May

Date:

Kansas City, Missouri – Residents of Kansas City will soon have an easier path to the sun-soaked Gulf Coast of Alabama. Allegiant Airlines will begin a new nonstop flight from Kansas City International Airport (MCI) to Gulf Shores International Airport (GUF) starting in spring 2025, providing passengers with a quick and affordably priced way of seeing the major beach locations in the area.

The service is set to begin on May 24, with flights operating twice weekly, on Wednesdays and Saturdays. For those trying to optimize their beach time without having to spend a long journey day, the flight duration is only two hours, which makes it pretty tempting.

Based on current listings, tickets for the new route are now on sale with round-trip rates in June ranging from $113 to $284 before additional costs. The opening of this route offers a competitive substitute for other seaside locations for budget-conscious visitors.

Gulf Shores International Airport is located just an hour’s drive from both Mobile, Alabama, and Pensacola, Florida. It provides access to the well-known beach towns on the Gulf Coast—including Fort Morgan, Orange Beach, and Gulf Shores. These areas are celebrated for their pristine white sands, emerald waters, and family-friendly attractions.

This represents Allegiant Airlines’ first nonstop trip from Kansas City International Airport to Alabama, so indicating a notable increase of their presence in the area. Though KCI already operates seasonal nonstop from Southwest Airlines to Pensacola, Florida, the Gulf Shores route marks Allegiant’s first trip outside of Florida from Kansas City.

Gulf Shores’ addition reflect the increased need for easily available beach holidays and widen their product line.
